From what I've been hearing you can practically go anywhere and watch the VP debates, but I just wanted to narrow down some choices for my DEMOCRATS & republicans (LOL).

Directions to Ikea in Brooklyn

Did you know that there is a free shuttle bus that will take you to the new Ikea in BK??? I just found out this evening as we made our way to pick up some furniture. (they deliver too)

By Train:
Take the F, D, M, or R ----> 4th Ave/9th St. Station
Take the 2, 3, 4, 5 --------> Court St/Borough Hall (M & R also stop here)

There is a free shuttle that arrives and departs from these stations every 20 mins, and drops you off at the entrance to Ikea.

By Bus:
B61 & B77 arrive/depart from Red Hook ---> These buses run every 15 minutes and will drop you off at the entrance to Ikea.

Users of IMDB (Internet Movie Database) will now be allowed to view free movies, TV shows, etc on the IMDB website. According to sources,

"It will offer more than 6,000 titles, including popular television shows as well as classic films. The content will be provided by Sony Pictures Television, CBS, Hulu and more than 500 independent filmmakers."

This may good for some folks, but my poor bootleg hustlas on 125th & Canal St. may begin to feel the effects....

RandomFab: Spring Time in The City

My homie Belle wrote about spring time in the city in her blog not to long ago, but I just wanted to expand on it a little more.

Men, yes it's warm outside. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the kids are playing and the beautiful women in the city are in their best Springtime/Summer gear. However, I cannot take the hollering, practically harassing any longer; it's wearing me out.

I could not get down the street as I walked into work this morning without six different guys approaching me, including a cop! I felt like a piece of meat each time a man stepped to me. At first I was flattered but as they kept coming it became annoying.

So please... please, let June hit before you get to crazy. A girl can only take so much!

Okay, back to our regulary scheduled program...I just had to vent.

FORUMFAB: WHY ARE THERE NO BLACK CLUBS IN NYC PART 2

Ok last week I wrote how there are really no "black owned elite clubs" in NYC and that really bothers me! Read here if you don't recall. Despite all the comments, emails, and convos I had with many of you, I still don't get it.

Think about it, the hottest establishments in NYC are owned by white people, not by us. Even when they do have "urban night" or "chocolate city nights " as Home calls it, why do I have to pay $20 just to walk in the door when on any other night its free? It makes no sense, just to go to a nice lounge/club and hear hip hop/ R&B, we are required to pay more than any other night when they're playing techno, rock, whatever!


I actually envy my white friends who can go to practically any club/bar any day of the week and have the time of their lives. They can walk in dressed anyway they want, pay nothing, and have fun.


For those of you who work in the "industry" like myself, yes there are exclusive parties that we all get invites to during the week, but what about the people who don't work in the industry? Why do the people who are not "ghettofab" and would like some place nice to party have to suffer because they don't have the "hookup?"

Sigh...someone please help me out!!!

ForumFab: Why are there no Black clubs in NYC?

My friends and I walked and cabbed around Manhattan frustrated this weekend as we tried to find a club that catered to everything that we wanted. We wanted a club where we could have a great time with hot music with people that looked like us...we definitely weren't going for"ghetto fab". Now don't get me wrong there are lots of urban parties in the city, but I can't seem to find a venue that caters to the Black party-goer seven days a week. I can't name one... and no 40/40 and Fashion 40 do not count!

Can someone please explain to me why it's so hard to find a spot where educated Black people can go and have a guaranteed good time every week in a city like New York that is supposed to be known as a melting pot?

If I'm wrong please let me know!
